Professor Philip Hanson (South Ward Councillor)
I am a Russia-watching economist, currently an Associate Fellow of the Royal Institute of International Affairs.
I retired from Birmingham University in 2002, and that is when my wife and I moved to Charminster. My career has been mainly academic, including spells at American, Japanese and Swedish universities, and also periods working for the Foreign Office, the UN and Radio Liberty.
My wife and I have two sons, one nearby in Hampshire and the other living in Sydney, and four grandchildren. My wife is much involved in local voluntary activities, including as a trustee of Age Concern Dorchester.
I am a flood warden and a member of the Parish Council’s South Ward planning committee.
