SSEN’s Charminster
re-cabling project will improve network resilience for the local community, improve visual amenity and mitigate environmental risk.

SSEN is working in and around Charminster to deliver a re-cabling scheme that will provide a modern and more resilient electricity network in the area.
The upgrade works have already commenced on farmland to the east of Charminster but works in the village will start with us crossing the Old Sherborne Road in late January 2024. Works will progress in phases as follows:
Old Sherborne Road crossing to Vicarage Lane: 24–29 January 2024
Vicarage Lane: 29 January–16 February 2024
Mill Lane: 16 February–21 March 2024
North Street: 16–20 April 2024
Wanchard Lane: 20 April–24 May 2024.
Each phase of works will be delivered in stages; this means that, while the road will be closed where we are working (except for Old Sherborne Road and North Street, which will be managed under 3-way traffic light control), vehicular access to properties will be maintained as far as practicable, even
if direction of access may change over time.
Vehicular diversion signage will be in place for each phase, but it is intended that pedestrian access will be maintained at all times unless a brief temporary closure is required to keep pedestrians and the site team safe; the site team will advise you if this is the case.
